Graduating Seniors and Google Accounts

Graduation 2014
Instructions to Candidates Norfolk Senior High School Graduation 2014
  1. Seniors will have semester tests on Thursday, May 8 and, Friday, May 9, 2014, during regular classes. All coursework, including any online coursework, must be finished by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12. Final grades are to be posted by 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13.  This must be followed for every student wishing to participate in the graduation ceremony.
  2. Only students that have a minimum of 230 credits and successful completion of all required courses may go through the graduation ceremony.
  3. Rehearsal for Commencement will be held on Thursday, May 15, at 9:00 a.m. sharp in the gymnasium. Every candidate for graduation MUST attend this rehearsal if he/she plans to participate in the ceremonies. Please be on time.
  4. Normal school attire is to be worn for rehearsal.
  5. Caps and gowns will be issued following the rehearsal. All students participating in the graduation ceremony must have a cap and gown. 
  6. Six tickets will be issued to each graduate following rehearsal, IF all fines and obligations are clear. Each student graduating in absentia may have two tickets by calling Ms. Workman or Mr. Luhr (644-2529). This concerns Commencement only. The Honors Program is open to the public—no ticket needed.
  7. Have your lockers cleaned out, and locks checked in to Ms. Hansen before 3:30 pm, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 to avoid fines. All fines and obligations need to be cleared before Friday, May 9 in order to receive tickets for graduation or their diplomas. 
  8. Baccalaureate service will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 7:00 pm, in the Johnny Carson Theatre. Attendance to this service is voluntary. Students will line up in the forum area.
  9. National Honor Society dinner and installation will be at 5:30 pm Thursday May 15 in the small gym.
  10. Honors program will be on Thursday, May 15 at 7:00 pm in the Johnny Carson Theatre.  We will only be recognizing those students that check in. Students must check in by 7:00 pm. Please let Juli Rohleder in the Counseling Center know of any awards or scholarships you have received by Wednesday, May 14 at noon.
  11. Commencement will be on Sunday, May 18, 2014, 2:00 pm, in the Norfolk High School Gymnasium. Commencement is a formal ceremony. All candidates are to meet at 1:00 pm in the rooms they were assigned at rehearsal. The gymnasium will be open for guest seating at 12:30 pm. Overflow seating will be in Carson Theatre with the ceremony televised.
    1. Dress code. Male students must wear socks with nice shoes---no tennis shoes---and dress attire (no jeans or shorts). For female students, dress attire---jeans or jean shorts are not acceptable dress attire.
    2. Each row will have 26 chairs and each candidate will have a number according to the chair. Please remember, the even numbered rows will enter in inverted order, according to number.
    3. Senior sponsors will be in charge of lining up students.
    4. Your gown will be your ticket for admittance.
  12. Students exit the opposite side from which they entered for the recessional.
  13. You may pick up your diploma on Monday, May 19 any time from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.  (Pickup location will be designated by signs when you arrive.)  Your report card will be issued at this time.  All blue stoles for National Honor Society, white and gold honor cords must be turned in at the time of diploma pick-up.                                       
(NOTE: The cap/gown/stole packet you ordered is yours to keep and does not need to be turned in.)


Starting in the Fall of 2014, students at NHS will be issued a Chromebook to use during the school year. This presentation answers some basic questions regarding Chromebooks.

The following are links to an Infinite Campus app for mobile devices. Our school district code is NCNGMJ. The app is free and will allow you to check on assignments, grades, etc. from your mobile device.

NHS Remind 101 for Parents
Parents of NHS students,

Communication is always of the utmost importance. In our effort to continue communicating with you we have added a Remind 101 for parents. NHS will be able to send a one way text message directly to your phone or digital device with no exchange of phone numbers. If you are interested please take the following steps:
